Welcome to my pages for the 2009 AMA Honda Superbike Classic. The AMA races ran from May 1st through May 3rd. This was my first time to attend an event at the Barber Motorsports Park and it will not be my last. I decided to go to the races after receiving an offer to attend the hospitality suite offered by the Barber Vintage Motorsport Museum (need to take advantage of my membership, right?).

My goal for the race was to get out and use my camera for some interesting pictures. I have not used my camera at a motorsports event before, so I also had some learning to do. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! I enjoyed the day at the races, got to take a lot of pictures, and learned something in the process. If you look closely you can see the faces of the riders in some of the pictures.

I did not know much about motorcycle racing before the weekend, and even after attending, I still don't know much about it. The morning started off with rain on my way to the park, and it continued to rain off and on all morning. That made for sloppy conditions on the track as well as the grounds. The Moto-GT race was run at times while raining. Eventually the clouds broke a little and the final two races were run under "dry" conditions.
